Man dies, subject released after shooting north of Fayetteville: Deputies

The wounded man, Richard Brigman, 66, of Fayetteville, was taken from the Woodbridge area to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he later died, a news release said.

A “suspect” was taken into custody, the initial news release said. The person in custody was later released, deputies said in a 2 p.m. Saturday news release.
