Invasive ant with ‘painful sting’ found in Missouri, researcher says

COLUMBIA, Mo. – A new report says an invasive ant known for its stinging bite is now in Missouri, according to one researcher.

Emily Althoff, an entomologist with the University of Missouri Extension, has been monitoring the state for the Asian needle ant since the fall, after it was found in Arkansas near the state’s border.
